Really GOOD Sausage Rolls

The perfect sausage roll - nothing hits the spot quite like it. Flaky pastry, fabulously flavoured sausage meat, all smothered in your favourite GOOD Sauce… we’re all about it!

Which is why we called upon Lucy Tweed from Every Night of the Week, aka the expert on all things delicious, to create a recipe just for you. It’s a little bit fancy with good quality ingredients (like our caramelised onions!), but it’s still a humble sausage roll, exactly how we like it.

Ingredients

500 g good quality pork and fennel sausages (we used salumi Australia)
250 g beef mince
1⁄2 cup GOOD SIDE Caramelised Onions
1 roll Carême puff pastry (or two squares of normal puff pastry)

1 egg
Black or white (or mixed) sesame seeds
GOOD Sauce BBQ Sauce and GOOD Sauce Tomato Ketchup, to serve

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C fan forced.
Remove sausage meat from the skin and place into a mixing bowl. Add beef mince and GOOD SIDE Caramelised Onions and combine.
Whisk the egg in a small bowl with a fork to make an egg wash.
Cut pastry into 8 even rectangular logs. Divide the meat and onion mixture between the logs. Brush one edge of the pastry with the egg wash. Roll each log into a roll.
Place the sausage rolls onto a tray lined with baking paper.
Score the top of each log lightly with a knife.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Serve with GOOD Sauce BBQ Sauce and GOOD Sauce Tomato Ketchup.
